ALTERED STATES

Lucid dreaming: The skill of lucid dreaming or dream travel has been practiced for thousands of years mostly in Tibet, by yogis wishing to develop their dream state awareness as another step in their spiritual evolution. Recent studies conducted by Dr. Stephen LaBerge at Stanford University, have scientifically validated this ancient occult ability; bringing it out of the Tibetan ashrams and occult schools and into laboratories and mainstream transpersonal psychology studies.

If one is in a waking state of consciousness, the brain is receiving input from the environment through the physical senses — eyes, ears, skin, nose and taste. The brain then combines the information acquired from the physical world, with the perceiver’s own memories and conditioned programming, and forms a ‘model.’

This model is what one experiences as sensual or sensory-oriented reality. In the dreamstate however, the senses are almost completely closed off from physical reality. Therefore, the senses stop making a conscious model of it. Yet the brain keeps working, and if it is very active like in REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, the brain continues to make models of things that are perceived with the non-physical or psychic senses — and which reside within one’s mind.

In lucid dreaming, the analytical faculty or conscious awareness engages after one has completely dissociated from the physical body’s consciousness. This is when one realizes that one is having a dream, or rather becomes lucid while dreaming. In contrast, during an out-of-body experience, the analytical faculty is retained throughout the entire process of dissociation from the physical body’s consciousness. Thus, once the process is completed, the individual realizes that he or she is indeed out of the body and inside dream reality.

Remote Viewing: What is commonly referred to as remote viewing (RV) is actually a form of ESP (extra sensory perception). For in reality, one is not actually viewing or seeing any type of images as the name implies, but rather perceiving bits and pieces of descriptive data about the chosen target. One may get accurate fragmented images—in my case they resembled sort of quick snapshots—while remote viewing, but in these rare instances they are not as clear — although for some people they are — as if one was seeing them with his or her physical eyes. Sometimes these flashing images even take symbolical form. However, I have learned that the acquisition of the images has nothing to do with RV protocols, or even RV training. Instead, they depend on the natural psychic talent and ability of the student. So this type of controlled or disci¬plined type of extra sensory perception or intuition, may be described then as the ability to psychically — but not visually as the name implies — perceive data about a person, object, or event, regardless of space and time. Everyone has this innate intuitive ability, but unfortunately, we choose to either ignore it, or think of it as something having to do with coincidence.

To learn remote viewing the student is taught a methodology which basically enables the individual’s conscious awareness to be about two to three seconds ahead of his imagination, therefore (potentially) accurately receiving psychic impressions in the forms of words, sensations and in some instances quick images which are descriptive of the target being remote “viewed.”

Out of the body experience (OBE): The phenomenon of mind-separating-from-the-body has been around since perhaps the dawn of man. It has been recorded in various aboriginal cultures and used by shamans to travel to other levels of reality. Here in the West, the term “out-f-the-body experience” was made popular by the pioneering Robert Monroe author of several books on the subject including the classic, Journeys Out Of The Body. Much like lucid dreaming, in the out of body experience (OBE), the individual is fully conscious of what is happening and that he (or she) is in another realm of experience beyond the physical. Most, if not all the individuals that have had this type of transpersonal experience regards it as been “more real that real.” It is my belief that the reason for this is that in an unconscious level humans know that they are “more than their physical bodies,” to quote Monroe. “True reality” is not physical but paraphysical. All of Creation was “conceived” by some kind of Super Mind, and everything exists inside that Super Mind (god). For a number of reasons, which are discussed and outlined in detail in my new book, Back From The Void, the soul or Higher Self sends of its “personality extensions” inside a human body to gather many sensory experiences in many spacetime continuums. Yet all lives of a higher self — guised as many individual people in different time epochs — are happening simultaneously. Meaning one personality extension might be a used car salesman in current times, a snake charmer in ancient times, and an interdimensional traveler in “the future,” all at the same time. By engaging in OBE’s one is able to access alternate spacetime continuums or systems of reality and even meet one’s counterpart selves that exist already in different realities.(For more detailed information about OBE – drug or technology induced or by spontaneous natural means see both my books).

Deep Trance Channeling: In this altered state of consciousness, the medium or “channel” is believed to undergo an out of body experience and let his (or her) physical body and nervous system including vocal chords to be used by a discarnate entity. This phenomenon has been known about throughout history. Popular channels that immediately come to mind are Edgar Cayce, Jane Roberts (who channeled Seth), and Jay Z. Knight (who channels Ramtha, featured in the film/documentary What the Bleep Do We Know?)
