I’ve been researching consciousness for over ten years. I’ve also had many an encounter with the supernatural throughout my life. As a result, I’ve written two books on these subjects. My first book, Into The Void, Exploring Consciousness, Hyperspace & Beyond with Brain Technology Devices, Psychedelics and Altered Mind-States — the first instalment of The Void Trilogy — was published in January 2001. Said body of work explores altered states of consciousness as gateways to alternate realities, with bits of my personal life from an old diary woven together with notes on neurophysiology, biology and quantum physics serving as a backdrop to all my “mad scientist” experiments. Lucid dreaming, remote viewing, out-of-the-body travel and channeling are also explored and combined with psychoactive compounds. This initial book of my on-going trilogy focused mainly on the fusion of psychoactive chemicals together with “mind machines.” To my knowledge, it is the first book in psychedelic literature ever written on the subject.

Now, years later and stemming from new research into Amazonian plant based shamanism and Brazilian magic (most notably spirit mediumship), I have released the second instalment of the trilogy: Back From The Void — A Modern-day Shaman's Odyssey Continues. In said book, I experimented mainly with two shamanic plant potions together with light and sound hemispheric synchronization. The reason for this being that it is my belief that this type of visual and auditory stimulation not only brings synchronized hemispheric brain functioning — which influences one’s experience — but I theorize that it specifically preps the brain to accept the psychoactive molecules from the plants by stimulating dendrites, neurons, and other neurological structures, such as the neuropeptide system. This new alchemical fusion, if you will, resulted in a new, never-before-experienced altered mind-state that I call the “Zenith7” state.

The new experiments depicted in Back From The Void in particular allowed me to communicate with non-human “plant entities” — apparently the spirits that are embedded in shamanic plants, much as our souls are embedded in our physical vehicles. Perhaps these experiences are not unlike those claimed by shamans for millennia. (For an example of this phenomenon check out Plantspeak, A Fantastic Love Story .pdf)

As stated in my new book, some of the research I have been involved with while in the Brazilian Amazon has been influenced in part by Cleve Backster's biocommunication work with Plants. In the mid-1960s, Backster performed polygraph experiments which seemed to show that plants are sentient, capable of sensing intent, making decisions, and even remembering. Interestingly and from what I’ve gathered in this particular phase of my on going investigations into the nature of reality, whereas Cleve Backster’s research led him to interact with the intelligence embedded in the living house plants’ biological form, my own experiments with the psychoactive species, hemispheric synchronization, and altered states of consciousness, led me to interact with the plant’s non-physical counterpart: its spirit. At least that’s my working hypothesis.

Ironically, the experiences depicted in my two books seem so “fantastic,” at least to some folks, that the storyline in both of them reads very much like a science fiction novel. Yet The Void Trilogy is the true story and graphic autobiography of a man’s quest and journey through time, space, and the psyche, both human and non-human, in search of his own answers about the nature of God, “His” genesis, the purpose of Creation, if any, and the secrets behind the manifestation of reality and existence itself. I not only wanted to know whether God existed or not, but if “He” (or “She...”?) did indeed turn out to exist, I wanted to know what makes that fucker tick.

Since Into The Void came out a few years ago, I have gotten the attention from fellow researchers, writers and inventors. Most notably, some of my early experiments are discussed in a book-in-progress called Psychedelic Information Theory: Shamanism in the Age of Reason, by James Kent (Read said excerpt HERE). By combining the over-the-counter mindbenders diphenhydramine hydrochloride or dimenhydrinate together with neuroelectrical stimulation and REM sleep depravation, I would go into a dreaming state fully awake. Which allowed for full-on “dimensional shifts” to other dimensions of reality, where interactions with fully formed, seemingly solid and three-dimensional landscapes and beings was possible — just like what happens when one is asleep and dreaming. Indeed, these “hallucinations” were alive, intelligent and even spoke with me! Stemming from my research, I have empirically come to learn that the mind states afforded by psychoactive compounds are much like doorways to alternate realities. But the spectrum of frequencies the brainwaves resonate in (beta, alpha, theta, delta) act as locators (or “keys,” if you will) that lead to particular “locales” in the invisible landscape. Hence my use of brainwave synchronization targeting specific brain state frequencies when intaking psychoactive compounds.

In the world of mind machines, Photosonix.com— a company that develops light and sound brain wave synchronizers — released a new model in 2004 called the Luma 10. This device includes in its programs two sessions that I co-designed with one of their engineers: “Into The Void with Zoe Seven” and “SuperZen7.” (These are on the Luma 10’s Meditation module, sessions number 8 and 9.)

And perhaps amusingly and somewhat ironic, my editor Jon Hanna told me recently that he received in the mail a script loosely based on my first book, Into The Void. According to him, the main character is named “Atom 8.” Ahem... Needless to say, my work seems to be getting attention from various circles and individuals.
